Pink + coral garden brunch party

I’m doing a happy dance right now because I have a real treat in store for you today!  My dear friend and ultra-talented blogger/graphic designer/DIYer  Lia Griffith asked me last week if I wanted to style a Mother’s Day garden brunch with her, featuring products from Martha Stewart’s craft and party lines.  I waited about zero nanoseconds before I said OF COURSE!  Lia is part of the 12 Months of Martha program (definitely on my wish list!), which is where featured bloggers are sent a big box of Martha Stewart goodies every month to create and blog about their cool DIY projects.  This month’s challenge was to create a Spring party using many of the products from Martha’s Vintage Girl collection, which is filled with pinks and corals and dainty scalloped details.  We paired Martha’s products with natural elements such as twig birds nests, moss, branches and green felted wool to create a Mother’s Day garden brunch.

Mother-Day-CenterpieceWhile we styled this party with Mother’s Day in mind, all the feminine and dainty details would lend themselves perfectly to many other party themes, including a Easter, a bridal shower, baby shower, tea party, or spa day.  Lia paired her cupcake liner peonies with her paper flower blooming branch to create this lovely DIY centerpiece.  For the brunch table, we nestled pink, coral, mint green and cream macarons inside mossy twig birds nests with custom printable leaf place cards at each setting.  Guests dined on fresh berries, pastries, mini scones, and strawberry jam served in egg cups.  Hot tea with custom printable tea bag tags was served alongside flutes of sparkling grapefruit juice with sprigs of fresh herbs and a decorative Martha Stewart flower gem on the rim.

DIY doily scalloped paper placemats were created using paper that Lia custom designed and had printed at Spoonflower.  I had a chance to test out Martha’s Circle Edge Punch Starter Kit and it only took a minute to get the hang of it…and then I was hooked!  I pretty much wanted to punch all.the.things by the end of the morning.

Mothers-Day-ChairDecorThese DIY scalloped chair garlands were one of my favorite little details!  I simply cut 3 of the Vintage Girl drink coasters in half and hot glued the straight edges onto mini pom pom trim.  Wouldn’t these be precious at a little girl’s birthday party?

Mothers-Day-Side-TableWe decorated the buffet table with a paper runner and a manzanita branch decorated with Martha’s pom pom flower stickers and scrunched cupcake liners.  The doily cupcake stand was filled with macarons, scones, mini cinnamon rolls and mini muffins.  The bottom tier held painted mini peat pots filled with grapes.  The (faux) feature wall is draped with fabric and sweetly decorated with tissue paper poms that were fluffed only on one side, then attached to the wall to look like oversized flowers.  I cut different sizes of tissue paper leaves, scrunched them, and added them to the backs of the flower poms with double sided tape.

Mothers-Day-Blooming-BranchI am absolutely thrilled with this garden brunch party and I hope it inspires you to try some new projects or use store bought materials in fresh new ways to make your next event extra special.
